Tottenham sign Wimmer

Kevin Wimmer enjoyed an excellent season at Cologne.

Tottenham have confirmed the signing of the Austria defender Kevin Wimmer from FC Köln (Cologne).

A reported fee of £4.3m for the 22-year-old was agreed in March and his move on a five-year contract has now been announced by Spurs. Wimmer, enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season in Germany for newly-promoted Cologne and he had also been linked with Spurs’ rivals Arsenal.

Surely this simply cements the fact that Younes Kaboul and Vlad Chiricheș have an unlikely future at the North London Club. The two defenders have been given “special permission” to stay at the Tottenham training ground during the lily whites pre-season tour, this spells out only one thing – that they are on the transfer list.

Wimmer admitted that it was to leave his club Cologne but the offer from Spurs was simply too good for him to turn down. The Austrian will Dele Alli as another new face joins Pochettino’s ‘revolution’ of young players arriving at the Premier League outfit.

Khedira to Arsenal or Chelsea as he confirms Madrid departure

Arsenal and Chelsea are on alert after Sami Khedira confirmed he will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season. Khedira will be available on a free transfer with a host of leading European clubs expected to be interested in him.The Germany World Cup winner has been a fringe player under Carlo Ancelotti this season, a situation he has admitted that has “hurt” him. This opens up the doors for the top Premier League clubs such as Arsenal and Chelsea who will fight it out for his signature.

Arsene Wenger’s pursuit of a central midfielder may not be on the top of his wish list following the emergence of Francis Coquelin this season and as for Chelsea Khedira would face tough opposition from Matic and Fabregas.

Ezequiel Lavezzi agrees to join Tottenham on four year deal

Lavezzi celebrates after scoring against Nantes

Tottenham Hotspur are in the process of securing the services of Paris Saint-Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi, according to Italian publication Tutto Mercato Web.

The Argentine international has one year left on his contract and there have been no talks of extending his current deal. Tottenham are said to be rivalling Liverpool for the stars signature.

Tottenham have apparently won the race for the transfer of Lavezzi, this in itself shows the statement of intent from Pochettino and Tottenham as they look to be trying to get there business done early with the other rumoured transfer of Kevin Wimmer looking to have also gone through.

Surely this is a blow for Liverpool, Lavezzi may have been the perfect replacement for Sterling who seems to already be out of the door after refusing to sign a contract with the reds.
